The church that started more than sixty years ago in the beautiful mountains of Idaho is still thriving. Crouch Community Church has continued through the years as a vital ministry to the people of Crouch and Garden Valley. Several denominations are represented and people from many states and local cultures make up this church.
Although there is a great deal of diversity, there is also a common bond. We have in common a confidence that the Bible is the authoritative Word of God, that Jesus is the Son of God and our Savior from sin, and that through faith in Him we have eternal life which is imparted to us by the Holy Spirit.
Our mission is to spread the good news that through Jesus, a person’s sins can be forgiven. His life can be lived in fellowship with the Creator and with the certain expectation of eventually being with the Lord in heaven. We are also responsible to teach people to obey the teachings of the Bible so that they can lead an abundant life — one that is pleasing to God.

Food For Thought
Carson City, Nevada, USA
3579 US Highway 50 E
Mission Statement: To provide nutritious meals to chronically hungry school children in our community
Despite federal and state social service programs, too many children in our community have little or no food on weekends. There are countless reasons for kids to go hungry – homelessness, parents out of work, lack of transportation to food banks or food kitchens, or access to kitchen facilities (such as family living long-term in hotel or car). All of these reasons prohibit children from eating regular, nutritious meals over the weekends. These children then return to school on Monday famished, their last meal being their school lunch from the previous Friday.
Food bags weigh less than five pounds, making them easier for children to carry. The bags are placed in the child’s backpacks in a closed-door meeting, and if the child does not have a backpack we provide one for them.
During the summer months, Food for Thought serves free nutritious lunches to all children ages 2 to 18 years old at a local park. The Summer Food Service Program was established by the USDA to ensure that low-income children continue to receive nutritious meals when school is not in session.
In our current economy, more and more children are going hungry. Additionally, the issue is becoming so widespread that the U.S. government has coined the phrase “food insecure.” This term refers to people in situations where they regularly and frequently do not know where their next meal is coming from. A report from the Center for American Progress: Hunger in America was published on October 5, 2011. This report found dramatic issues related to “food insecure” children:

“Slavery occurs when one person completely controls another person, using violence or the threat of violence to maintain that control, exploits them economically, pays them nothing, and they cannot walk away” (The CNN Freedom Project).
As a ministry at Foothills, everything we do in the justice ministry is specifically designed with that one person in mind.
Over the past few years, we have used funds from Just Grounds to provide direct services to local human trafficking victims, taken funds from art auctions to support the work of International Justice Mission and supported Free the Girls, an organization helping survivors of human trafficking start their own businesses.
We would love to talk with you and help you discover simple steps you can take to make a difference.

The Horse’s Bit Pantry/University Student Pantry/Crosswalks Student Pantry
Boise, Idaho, USA
1915 University Drive
Ben Moore of Crosswalks Campus Ministry was handing out food boxes to the students living in the dorms. At one of the campus ministry leaders meetings, the idea was brought up to begin a food pantry. St. Paul’s Catholic Student Center offered free lunch every day during the week at 12:30. There was an increase of students at this lunch. The students began to ask their friends and classmates about their thoughts on hunger in college. The results were clear: students are hungry.
A lot of students cannot afford meal plans provided by Boise State. Even the freshmen who are required to purchase one were not getting all their meals covered for the semester. Thus, Ben from Crosswalks and Teresa DeVino from St. Paul’s decided to join together to create The Horse Bit.

Programs That Help
Adult Rehabilitation Program
For over 100 years, The Salvation Army has been providing assistance to people with a variety of physical and social afflictions through its United States based Adult Rehabilitation Centers (ARCs).
Adult Rehabilitation Centers began in 1881 when William Booth - founder of The Salvation Army - opened shelters for homeless people on the streets of London, England. His initiative quickly spread to the United States, and to this day, people come to us with issues of substance abuse, legal problems, relational conflicts, homelessness, unemployment and a need for spiritual awakening and restoration.
Drug and alcohol addiction are among the country's most destructive social problems, and The Salvation Army's Adult Rehabilitation Centers comprise the largest residential rehabilitation program in the United States. This comprehensive program is free to the public and financed through our well known Salvation Army Thrift Stores.
Adult Rehabilitation Centers are probably the most widely known of all The Salvation Army services. They provide long term, social model, and residential recovery programs for individuals seeking to deal with substance abuse and other addictions. They seek to help participants regain self-worth, learn how to build an orderly and disciplined life and become contributing members of society. Each program participant is provided with a clean and healthy living environment, nutritious food, group and individual counseling, spiritual direction, work therapy assignments and recreational activities.
Emergency Disaster Services
The Salvation Army has been responding to major disasters in the United States since the devastating hurricane experienced by Galveston, Texas in 1900. Since then, The Salvation Army is usually one of the first on the scene and the last to leave. While every disaster is unique and creates its own special needs, the core of The Salvation Army's disaster program consists of several basic services. And while these services address many of the typical needs of a disaster survivor, Salvation Army disaster relief is also flexible. Our services are adapted to the specific needs of individuals and communities and salable according to the magnitude of the disaster.
For information on how to get involved with this amazing team, please contact Lt. Larry Groenleer via email or by calling 702.870.4430 x 113.

Vocational Programs: (702) 701-5347
We strive to help our clients obtain the income and locate housing that they may function as self-sufficient, independent citizens of the community. We want to ultimately eliminate homelessness in Las Vegas by leading homeless individuals to employment and housing that they will achieve productive lives. Working in partnership with the College of Southern Nevada, local businesses, and state agencies, our clients receive academic training and practical work experience in a variety of fields. Along with classes in life skills and essential employment tools, these programs truly transform lives.
Spiritual Services
The Chapels at the Lied Social Services Campus and treatment center provide the homeless with nightly services as well as needed counseling and guidance by the resident chaplain.
Our Mission: The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the Universal Christian Church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God.
Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.
SEEDS of Hope (Saving, Empowering, Educating, and restoring DreamS to lives shattered by human trafficking)
The Salvation Army firmly believes that the abuse and exploitation of human beings through any form of human trafficking is an offense against humankind and against God. We work vigilantly for the prevention of human trafficking and for the restoration of survivors. Give if you can to SEEDS of Hope.
The SEEDS of Hope program works in collaboration with local law enforcement, FBI, ICE and numerous community service providers to identify, rescue, and restore victims of all forms of human trafficking.
Las Vegas has been identified by a Justice Department risk analysis study as one of 17 cities nationwide most likely to be the top destinations for trafficking victims. Everyday in our valley, SEEDS of Hope works with both foreign and domestic victims of all ages and ethnic backgrounds. Through our comprehensive case management services we can provide emergency shelter, transportation, clothing, food, victim advocacy, crises intervention and safety planning, medical and dental care, derivative family member benefits, mental health counseling, employment assistance, legal referrals, substance abuse treatment, access to child care, and other service recommendations.
We take a holistic approach to the clients' needs and challenges in order to help them move from victimization to self sufficiency. SEEDS of Hope, like all of The Salvation Army's programs and services, are made possible with the support of the community we serve. Please take a moment to pray for those who are victims of modern day slavery.
