Blue Kangaroo Learning Center
ABOUT BLUE KANGAROO
At Blue Kangaroo, our goal is to provide a nurturing, secure environment filled with warmth and encouragement — where your child can learn and develop a positive self-image.
We all know it doesn’t take much to get kids to play. The trick is to getting them to learn in the process! Teaching children at this age is not about giving directions — we just guide their exploration.
Kids are curious like cats, so we satisfy that curiosity with lots of fun and interesting things to do! We stay in small groups during all of our activities, so we can get to know each child.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
We believe that each child is an individual. We are sensitive to each child’s developmental needs and strive to provide an encouraging, well-balanced environment in which the child will develop socially, emotionally, intellectually and physically.
We believe children deserve the opportunity to excel at their own pace. At Blue Kangaroo Learning Center, we will provide each child with this opportunity.
We believe in providing a safe, clean and healthy physical environment. The classroom is arranged to provide hands-on experiences that will encourage exploration, discovery and learning.
We emphasize activities — in small groups — that will develop a positive self-image.
We believe the strength of our program is based solely on the dedication and motivation of the teaching staff. We work hard to make sure every interaction with each child is a positive, developmentally appropriate experience.
We believe in a positive, active guidance approach that will enable the child to learn self-discipline and self-control. These skills are a crucial part of a child’s development, as they learn to interact with other children as well as adults.
We strive to help children gain a positive self-image and independence, while never forgetting they also need to have fun!
OUR PROGRAMS
Blue Kangaroo Learning Center understands that every age group has its own special requirements. That’s why we’ve developed programs and activities specific to each age group.
Your child will enjoy age-appropriate crafts, games and lesson plans that will help them learn — while having fun at the same time!
Our early childhood curriculum is based on the philosophy that children learn through hands-on experiences and cooperative play. The process of learning is more important than the end result.
Activities are designed to emphasize the experiences your child is having, rather than the results of those activities. We give your child the opportunity to experience, explore and discover at his or her own pace.
We provide activities and learning experiences specially designed for your child’s needs, abilities and developmental levels. Detailed information about the week’s activities is always posted in your child’s classroom.
At Blue Kangaroo, we will also introduce your child to the number one friend of growth — exercise! They’ll bounce from session to session, and move their small muscles in one of three age-appropriate playgrounds. These playgrounds are equipped with large play structures, tike paths, bikes and cars to ride around and a large grass area.
Rain or shine, they’ll always get the exercise they need as we also have large indoor motor-skills rooms for everyday play.
When you exercise a child’s mind and body, the result is a happy growing child.
TOUR
Our 14,000 square-foot location was designed with kids in mind. The facilities are fun, spacious and airy — with plenty of natural sunlight and room to play and grow.
The outside play areas are designed for safety, while at the same time encouraging your child to run, play and interact with other kids!
We believe a comfortable environment designed specifically for children encourages learning, fun and friendships. For pictures please feel free to visit: https://www.kangakrew.com/tour
SAFETY OVERVIEW
Security Entry Systems
At Blue Kangaroo, we take the safety of your child very seriously. We have installed state-of-the-art security systems to protect the children in our care.
As a parent, you will gain access into the center through the front of the building by using an access code given to you at the time of enrollment.
When you enter the facility, you will use a touch screen computer to sign your child in or out of the building. This ensures that no unauthorized person can gain access to the facility at any time.
We have also installed “web cams” throughout the center which allow us to monitor the facility.
Sign In / Sign Out procedures
We understand that sometimes, someone other than you must pick up your child. Our formal procedures require prior authorization from you (in writing).
As a parent or guardian, you are the only person who can authorize the center to release your child to another individual. At the time of enrollment, we will ask for two other adults who are authorized to pick up your child in case of an emergency.
Blue Kangaroo Learning Center will always ask for a photo ID before releasing your child. You never have to worry about your child being released to an unauthorized individual.
REMOTE VIDEO
One of the most exciting features we offer at Blue Kangaroo is the ability of parents to check in and see how their child is doing throughout the day.
Nothing is more reassuring than to view your child playing and learning while surrounded by caring adults. Each of our classrooms is equipped with a state-of-the-art video monitoring system.
As a parent, you will be given login and password information. This allows you to sign in to our web site and view you your child throughout the day, whenever they are in the facility.
Your child also has fun knowing that at anytime, you may be peeking in! This gives you a great opportunity at home to talk about the day together.
Of course, this same technology also provides a safer and more secure environment for your child. Because the whole facility is monitored, we know what is going on in every room at all times.
We find that for many of our parents, the ability to share a part of their child’s day is priceless.
HEALTH INFORMATION
Medical Requirements:
We adhere to state regulations regarding immunization records for every child. Current immunization records and well child statements for all ages must be provided when a child is enrolled. We also request that immunization certificates for day care be submitted each time a child receives new immunizations. We will even let you know when immunizations are due. By adhering to these standards, we are doing everything possible to ensure the health of your child and others.
Nutrition Program:
All snacks and meals at Blue Kangaroo are designed to meet the daily nutritional needs of each child — as well as taste good! We provide nutritional snacks in the morning and afternoon.Although we do not serve breakfast, you are welcome to bring in a single serving of breakfast to be served with juice in the morning. We also offer an optional hot lunch, which is available each day for $4.Children are also welcome to bring a cold lunch. If your child has special dietary needs or food allergies, just let us know. We serve all meals in the classroom, and our teachers eat with the children to promote and stimulate conversations and self-help skills.
Illness:
At Blue Kangaroo, one of our goals is to provide as healthy an environment as possible for your child. As a way to help ensure this, we do not accept children with communicable diseases, diarrhea or a temperature above 101 degrees. This is not only state law, but it’s another step in protecting all our children. If your child were to become ill while attending the center, we notify you as soon as possible to come pick up your child. You can be sure that in the meantime, a caring adult will be there to provide the comfort a sick child needs.
Rest Time:
We make sure all of our children have a rest period each day. Rest is crucial for the health of learning, playing, growing children.
FAQs:
We have strict procedures in place for providing a secure environment for your child. All parents are given an access code, which they enter into a keypad at the front door. There is no access by the public to the rear doors.
What makes Blue Kangaroo different from other learning facilities?
Our experienced, caring staff is one of the big differences. Every teacher and assistant at Blue Kangaroo is dedicated to your child’s health and their ability to learn and grow as an individual. More importantly is our staff’s desire to have your child feel nurtured and cared for.
All activities at Blue Kangaroo are conducted in small groups. By keeping the groups small, our teachers are able to get to know each child, providing encouragement and guidance on an individual basis.
What if there is an emergency and I can't pick up my child?
At the time of enrollment, we ask you for the names of two adults who have permission to pick up your child. You may also authorize another individual to pick up your child, but we must have written permission from you. We always verify by asking for a photo ID.

Brookfield School Little Campus
PHILOSOPHY & HISTORY
Brookfield School provides a private academic setting where young people prosper in thought and imagination. Students learn competence and character as individuals as well as members of a school community. Brookfield is committed to the overall development of each child. We provide strong academic instruction in the basic skills as well as a wide variety of cultural and aesthetic experiences. Because there are great differences among children of the same age we use factors other than chronological age to create a strong planning program in each classroom in our Pre-school, Middle and Elementary Schools. Meeting high level intellectual, social, emotional and physical needs of young people is important to student success.
OUR HISTORY
Brookfield School was founded in Sacramento in 1962 and opened in Reno, Nevada in 1978 and both locations continue to serve the educational needs of the community. Brookfield School- Reno is an independent, co-educational day school for 250 students in preschool through eighth grade. Brookfield School and parents have a shared vision of an academically rich and rigorous, non-denominational educational program. We have a pre-school campus to serve our younger students. The Little Campus (TLC) will introduce two to five year olds to a more exciting, challenging, and fun-filled day. It is a step above the typical preschool curriculum.
SCHOOL PROFILE
Brookfield School has been educating children since 1964. We are very proud of our school and would like to extend a personal invitation for you and your child to come and learn with us. Children with developed solid thinking skills and a love of learning achieve remarkable academic results. Brookfield School’s mission is to develop the whole child, fostering his/her academic, communication, and interpersonal skills. Students become excited, lifelong learners, confident thinkers, and strong communicators. Our students develop solid thinking skills and achieve remarkable academic results. Most noticeably, our math and reading achievement scores are in the top 15% in the nation.
Our successful approach uses a well-rounded traditional curriculum, safe and small class sizes, a nurturing environment, and certified classroom teachers. We have an exceptionally low student-to- teacher ratio. Our programs are offered for children in preschool through eighth grade. Early mastery of reading and mathematic fluency enables older children to make swift progression into more advanced subjects and at a faster rate.

New Parents
Learn what you can do to make the first day of school a pleasant experience for everyone. Trusting strangers to take care of your precious child can be difficult. At The Child Garden, we start as strangers and we end as family. Be sure to check out “Tomorrow’s A School Day”on amazon and kindle, or ask our Center Director Miss Hayley about it in person.
What to Expect on Your Child's First Day
Your child’s first day of school is an exciting time for the whole family. No matter what age, there are some important things you can do to make this day easier on everyone. It is best to prepare your child ahead of time by talking to them about school and what they can expect.
When you get to school you will be greeted by the teachers and staff. They will show you to your child's classroom where you will find a cubbie with your child's name. Next, they will take you on a short tour of the school before joining your child's classmates. The best thing for parents to do is tell the child that they will pick them up after nap time. Then, give them a big hug and kiss goodbye and walk out of the room. Quick goodbyes are best for the child and are proven to reduce separation anxiety. If your child becomes upset, the teacher will comfort them with hugs and remind them that mommy and daddy will be back soon.
The most important thing to remember is to not show your child that you are nervous about leaving them. Even very young children are attuned to the emotions of their parents. Breathe and relax, preschool is very important and your child is in good hands. Remember, call the school as many times as you wish to check on your child. Today preschool, tomorrow college.
Our online forum offers a place for current and perspective parents to ask questions and read about other family's positive experiences with preschool.

Parent Testimonials
John and Kelly-
The Child Garden is more than a daycare facility, it is a second home. Last year, my husband went on a 14 month deployment to Afghanistan. During his deployment, my initial daycare closed. In a panic, I went to 10 different day cares and then found Miss Sandy. Miss Sandy and her staff took such good care of me and my son. I felt like we were the only family there even though, there are lots of other children and families. I would not have been able to work, take care of my son and get through my husband’s absence if it wasn’t for Child Garden’s compassion. We feel loved here and although I will be excited for my son, it will be a sad day when he graduates kindergarten. We will miss the child garden. Miss Sandy manages to take curriculum to the next level while also giving my son love, support and encouragement. My son is three and knows his colors, numbers, shapes and how to count in Spanish. I love the monthly updates on what he is learning about. We are very happy here.
I cannot say enough positive things about our experience here at the Child Garden. When our children started preschool, it was important for us to have them in a school that provided them a quality education in a supportive environment. Child Garden has not only provided our children with a valuable start to their education, they have done so in a loving and nurturing environment. The Child Garden has supported our belief in teaching our children the value of education early in life. They have done this by having qualified teachers who provide a curriculum that challenges and prepares students for advancement. I know my children will be well prepared for the first grade, thanks to The Child Garden’s focus and dedication to their students.
The Child Garden has facilitated a loving and nurturing environment for our daughter for nearly four years. The teachers are kind, caring individuals with strong principles in early childhood education. Our family has been extremely happy with our experiences at the Child Garden, and we would recommend the school to anyone looking for a wonderful and safe place for their child to learn and grow.
We have one little girl and we were somewhat afraid of her starting school and what that would be like for all of us. From the moment I walked into the school for my first tour, I knew this was where my little girl was going to go to Kindergarten. I saw happy, engaged children in the classroom and I loved it so much, I decided my husband and daughter needed to come check it out right away. They both loved it and I cried both times. Miss Sandy, Miss Hayley and Miss Carmen were so nice. They answered all of our questions, including the ones I didn’t have, and I felt so at ease. Ms. Carmen had my daughter participate in a craft during her tour and she really enjoyed it. My husband and I decided that day that this was the place and we wanted to enroll our daughter in the pre-school class before starting Kindergarten. We are more than happy with our experience here and our daughter comes home filled with information and excitement every day. She loves Ms. Carmen, Ms. Hayley and Ms. Sandy and so do we. The school has become part of our family and we would not have it any other way! We just keep hoping they will consider adding additional grades so our daughter can stay longer. We know she is getting a great education and, most importantly, love, from everyone on staff at The Child Garden.

Here’s what companies say:
Our business has grown steadily in Clark County in spite of this prolonged recession. In 2010, our decision to locate here was because we would be seen as a big fish in a little pond as opposed to California where we would be a little fish in the ocean. It's all about location. Southern Nevada is an important emerging market in which to do business, especially in the technology sector. The region has an extremely low instance of natural disasters, great accessibility to high-speed Internet connections, and the dry and mild climate makes cooling efficient and inexpensive. Clark County is an up-and-coming technology center, and a natural fit for any company to seriously consider.
The UNLV National Supercomputing Center enhances Southern Nevada's U.S. business competitiveness as a primary gateway for medical, energy and scientific data flow from coast-to-coast and markets abroad. Southern Nevada is the ideal setting for this facility, considered a "safe-zone" from natural disasters and having a highly sophisticated power grid in a rapidly growing market.
Cord Blood America, Inc. relocated from Southern California to Las Vegas, Nevada in 2009 for two key reasons, transportation and tax advantage. Our business depends on airports for movement of our products and convenient access to McCarran from our facility provided us with the assurance that we needed to maintain continuity to our service offering. As important was the tax structure and regulatory environment which were more advantageous that what we experienced in California, and factored heavily into our decision to be here.

With jurisdiction over the world-famous Las Vegas Strip and covering an area the size of New Jersey, Clark is the nation’s 14th-largest county and provides extensive regional services to more than 2.2 million citizens and more than 46 million visitors a year. Included are the nation’s 8th-busiest airport, air quality compliance, social services and the state’s largest public hospital, University Medical Center. The County also provides municipal services that are traditionally provided by cities to about 952,000 residents in the unincorporated area. Those include fire protection, roads and other public works, parks and recreation, and planning and development. The famed Las Vegas Strip sits at the heart of Clark County featuring unparalleled attractions like dancing fountains, a replica of the renowned Eiffel Tower, an erupting volcano and some of the world's largest and most beautiful resorts. Millions of people visit annually to enjoy our fine restaurants, shop a dazzling array of stores and relax at our luxurious spas. Las Vegas boasts more than 160,000 hotel rooms and is among the world's top convention destinations. Nevada has no shortage of compelling landscapes, and Clark County is no different. Mt. Charleston and skiing are just 45 minutes away, and Red Rock National Conservation area beckons on the western fringe of the Las Vegas Valley. Lake Mead National Recreation Area, located 30 miles southeast of Las Vegas, caters to boaters, swimmers, fishermen, hikers, wildlife photographers and roadside sightseers. Meanwhile, gambling is offered in the destinations of Mesquite, Primm and Laughlin, located on the sun-drenched Colorado River.

Incorporated & Unincorporated Areas
As a “city” government, Clark County responds to the needs of about 952,000 residents in the urban unincorporated areas. Sahara Avenue, which crosses the Strip on the north side of the Sahara Hotel & Casino, is the municipal boundary for the City of Las Vegas. Those residing south of this line receive their traditional urban services from Clark County rather than from any of the County’s five cities: Las Vegas (pop. 640,174), Henderson (pop. 299,279), North Las Vegas (244,793), Boulder City (pop. 16,570) and Mesquite (pop. 20,325). The services provided there include all those functions normally associated with a city, such as public works, building inspections, fire protection, parks and recreation, etc. View a jurisdictional map of significant destinations such as Downtown Summerlin, the Las Vegas Convention Center and Sam Boyd Stadium within the Clark County-Las Vegas Valley area.

CATHOLIC CHARITIES OF NORTHERN NEVADA’S ST. VINCENT’S DINING ROOM PROGRAM
Established in 1961, the St. Vincent’s Dining Room of Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada feeds nutritious meals to the poor, the homeless, and under-served men, women, and children six days a week (including holidays) in a clean and safe environment. Since our beginning, we have served more than 3 million free meals.
In 2015, we fed an average of 550 people per day, and served more than 156,000 meals. Looking back to 2008, this number was in the low 400s. Although both of these are large numbers, there is a fluctuation in attendance based on the time of the week and the time of the month. Early in the week, we experience far fewer people dining with us than we do later in the week. We also see this pattern on a monthly basis, as we feed many more people at the end of the month than we do earlier in the month. Based on our observations and discussions with the people who share a meal with us, we have found that about half of the people who regularly participate in our free meals have some rather minimal income. For example, many of these people get paid weekly, and when their money runs out (usually at the end of the week), they bring their families to the St. Vincent’s Dining Room rather than going hungry.

CATHOLIC CHARITIES OF NORTHERN NEVADA AND WASHOE COUNTY SENIOR NUTRITION PROGRAM: A PUBLIC-PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP
In an effort to provide quality service and keep up with a local increase in the need for senior meal services, Washoe County and Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada are proud to offer the collaborative Senior Nutrition Program, to include both the congregate meal and home-delivered Meals on Wheels programs. By combining efforts, we hope to reduce meal production costs and provide more meals to homebound residents and senior citizens. This partnership allows the two groups to serve an estimated 400,000 meals per year to local seniors.
SENIOR NUTRITION SERVICES
Congregate Meal Program: Lunch in a group setting; socialize with other participants while enjoying a healthy meal. The program provides one meal per day to seniors 60+ and qualified individuals (spouse of a senior, disabled living at a nutrition site, or disabled dependent on a senior). A hot meal or fresh salad is provided Monday through Friday at ten senior meal locations. Monthly menus are available online or at each meal site location. With the exception of the Washoe County Senior Center, reservations must be made by 9:00 AM on the desired day. Individuals wishing to enjoy a fresh salad in place of a hot meal are required to sign up in person or by phone at the desired meal location by 9:00 AM that day.
Home Delivered Meals: Provides delivery of meals to homebound seniors 60+ who are unable to participate in the Washoe County Senior Services Congregate Meal program due to an illness or a disability. Meals provided are in accordance with established dietary guidelines and food safety standards. The suggested voluntary contribution is $2 per meal. Self addressed stamped envelopes are provided by the meal delivery drivers for contributions to be mailed to Washoe County Senior Services.
For more information about this public-private collaboration, or to find out how to refer a senior for this program, please visit the Washoe County Senior Nutrition Programs website .

CROSSROADS HOUSING PROGRAM OVERVIEW
A partnership with Washoe County Social Services and the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office that provides housing and supportive living arrangements for men and women battling addiction and transitioning out of homelessness. Drug and alcohol counseling is offered to all residents.
A PUBLIC-PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN WASHOE COUNTY SOCIAL SERVICES AND CATHOLIC CHARITIES OF NORTHERN NEVADA.
The Crossroads Program is a collaboration between Washoe County Social Services (WCSS) and Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada that began in January of 2011. The program provides a supportive living arrangement for men and women transitioning out of homelessness. Clients in the program are given a safe and caring environment to live in, along with wraparound social services including drug and alcohol counseling, employment support, volunteer/work opportunities, and other tools to help them establish a new, more productive path in life.
The goal of Crossroads is to prevent relapses into homelessness and substance abuse, and to reduce public costs associated with jail, hospital and other emergency services. The program has shown tremendous success with many community partners, and Washoe County estimates that Crossroads is saving the community about $12 million per year.
- Average length of stay at Crossroads – 192 days
- 1,700 clients served since inception in 2011
- 96% of residents volunteer in the community
- 25% of residents have been reunited with their families

We not only keep kids learning during Spring Break—we also get them excited about summer with activities that provide a sneak preview of all the excitement planned for our 12-week Summer Break.
Summer Break
We offer several fun and engaging themes over the course of the summer to ignite children’s imagination and curiosity. Enroll in one week, a few weeks, or all 12 weeks—and if you have more than one child, enjoy the convenience of having them in one safe place together all summer.

Winter Break
The Winter Break program brings learning and fun together—and the best part? We help children build their potential by encouraging them to choose their own learning activities, work in groups, and stay active. You can sign your children up for one day or every day—whatever works best for you!
This is a big decision for your family. The best way to get you the information you need is to speak directly with the center director in your neighborhood, so you can explain your individual needs. Your Center Director will help guide you through our invaluable programs and affordable pricing.
There is no one-size-fits-all answer to what the tuition will be for your family. Child care costs will vary based on your situation. Here are some of the things that impact the cost:
- Prices vary regionally. To give you the most accurate information, we need to know your location.
- Cost is based on the number of days per week, and hours per day that your child will be with us.
- Cost will vary depending on your child’s age, and the programs that they are enrolled in.
To learn more about KinderCare tuition, please find a center from the list below and reach out to the Center Director there to get more details. You are also welcome to chat online with one of our friendly support team members.

A tax credit is a dollar-for-dollar reduction in taxes owed. Some credits are refundable – taxes can be reduced to the point that a taxpayer receives a refund instead of paying taxes. A tax credit is even more valuable to families than a tax deduction.
Under current federal law, eligible families can claim child care tax credits* up to:
- $2,100 from the federal Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit (up to $1,050 for each of your first two children; the exact amount depends on your income and actual child care expenses);
- $1,000 per child from the federal Child Tax Credit; and
- $5,657 from the federal Earned Income Tax Credit. (The exact amount depends on your income)

Support for Military & Federal Families
KinderCare Learning Centers proudly support U.S. Military, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, U.S. National Park Services, and U.S. General Services Administration families.
Finding the right care and learning environment for your child is an important decision – one we know can be impacted by many variables in a military family's life.
In an effort to help military families in need of care, KinderCare has partnered with Child Care Aware® of America to offer fee assistance for eligible active duty military families and a solution to address their child care needs when care at an on-base Child Development Center (CDC) isn’t available.
We also offer a Child Care Subsidy Program administered through the USDA (formerly administered by the General Services Administration (GSA)) for eligible Active Duty members or Active Duty Reservists of the U.S. Coast Guard called to action for 180 days of longer, U.S. National Park Services, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and U.S. General Services Administration who don’t live or work near a Child Development Center (CDC).
Whether you’re in need of a temporary solution while your family is in transition or you’re looking for a long-term, ongoing partnership, we’re confident that we can provide you and your family with a high-quality solution that works for you.
Benefits available to eligible families include:
- Reduced tuition rates
- High-quality care and an unsurpassed learning experience, no matter where you are. We’re proud to share that we have more nationally accredited centers than any other private child care provider in the country.
- Consistent learning experiences, no matter where you relocate. We have more than 1,400 centers nationwide, all which use the same curriculum to teach in their classrooms.
