Services
Adoption/Pregnancy
Catholic Charities Adoption Services has been providing adoption services since 1941. Through ethics and leadership, Adoption Services
compassionately serves children throughout their lives by guiding, educating and empowering birth families, adoptive families and the community.
Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada has provided adoption services since 1941 and facilitates approximately 20-25 adoption plans each year. We are here to assist anyone considering adoption for their child to learn more about the adoption process and if this will be the right choice for you. We recognize this can be a difficult time and are here to offer support and guidance as you explore your options. Catholic Charities prides ourselves in our ethical, caring services we provide to all clients. We believe making an adoption plan for child is a very loving and selfless decision.
In the state of Nevada, parents cannot sign any paperwork consenting to an adoption before their child is at least 72 hours old. This means all work done during the pregnancy and immediately following the birth of the child is part of the planning process and is not legally binding. Prior to signing consent paperwork, a birthparent may choose to parent their child at any time.
Catholic Charities offers individualized, custom adoption plans. These plans are created by birth parents with the assistance of an adoption social worker. We also offer a monthly support group for birth parents as well as expectant parents considering adoption for their child. We have three full-time social workers, one of which is dedicated to working with expectant and birth parents. For more information visit: http://www.catholiccharities.com/adoption-pregnant/

Retail Services Closure
For several years, Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada has been operating resale thrift stores providing the community with reasonably priced clothing and household goods. Taking a thoughtful look at our mission and operations, we have determined that it is in the best interest of those we serve to close our distribution center and two retail locations, one on Eastern Avenue and Tropicana Avenue and the other on Rainbow Boulevard and Charleston Boulevard.
We endeavor to always be wise and effective stewards of our resources as we provide for our community’s most vulnerable. Amid the current landscape of the competitive Las Vegas retail market, closing our thrift stores allows our agency to focus on our core mission of providing food, shelter, and comprehensive services to more than 100,000 clients each year.
With that being said, we cannot serve this great number of our community’s most vulnerable without your help: we continue to rely on food and donation drives, financial support, and the gift of volunteer service. Thank you for all you do to give help and hope to people in need.
How To Get Involved
There are many ways you can help support the mission of Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada. Whether it’s a financial contribution, Organizing a donation drive, or volunteering your time, we greatly appreciate your help. Step 1 Inc
Hours: 8AM–5PM Addiction Treatment Center & Sober Living Services
Step 1 provides supportive transitional housing to low or no income, adult men in northern Nevada.
These men, who often become homeless as a result of their substance abuse issues and associated
criminal behaviors, but demonstrate a strong desire to change their lives, are provided an opportunity
for growth and change at Step 1.
Many of the men requesting supportive housing at Step 1 enter the program directly from incarceration,
the streets, area treatment centers, the court system and concerned family members.
The Model
The model of supportive transitional housing provided by Step 1 is clinically proven and unique to
northern Nevada. Structured transitional housing, combined with ASAM Level 1 Outpatient Substance
Abuse Counseling and peer-to- peer mentoring creates an environment for promoting responsible, pro-
social values.
Counseling
Each client receives substance abuse counseling to not only deal with addiction issues, but paramount is
the ability for each client to learn how to become self-sufficient so that they can re-integrate back into
the local community.

The Salvation Army Community Family Shelter provides rooms for families and single women who need a temporary place to stay to help them overcome homelessness by giving them time to save money and find housing. This program provides housing for up to 90 days.
Transitional Housing
The Salvation Army Community Family Shelter also provides rooms for families and single women who need longer than 90 days to get back on their feet. This program is designed for people who are pursuing education, paying off significant debts, or who have other reasons that make it impossible for them to become self-sufficient in 90 days or less. This program requires a program fee that is put into a savings account for the client. Upon successful completion of the program, the money that the client saved will be paid towards housing deposits or rent.
Case Management
Both the emergency and transitional housing programs provide weekly case management for every family and single woman. During case management, weekly goals are set by identifying and utilizing client's strengths to overcome homelessness such as saving money, finding employment, and finding housing. Case management is also used as a means to keep families and women accountable in the program.
Social Skills Groups
Both emergency and transitional housing programs provide a weekly social skills group which is facilitated by Families, Etc.
